Based on beloved Brothers Grimm characters, INTO THE WOODS explores what happens after "happily ever after". This bold, new production will reimagine the Stephen Sondheim classic to cut to the heart of the piece- the relationships between children and parents.
About the Studio Series...
The Studio Series provides performance opportunities that are generally targeted towards specific age groups. Studio Series productions may contain a limited number of roles. As such, not everyone may be cast. Smaller cast sizes allow for an experience that places a particular focus on developing participants' skills and abilities in greater depth as well-rounded performers and storytellers. With a stronger focus towards artistry and storytelling, the production designs and performance venues of these productions will vary to allow for flexible staging, creative concepts, and audience experiences. 

Our Creative Team members bring with them substantial experiences in educational and professional theatre that have made them masters of their respective creative disciplines. These Teacher-Artists are adept at designing and facilitating a nurturing, yet rigorous experience to challenge performers to achieve their personal best. Our goal is to create an environment where each individual feels safe to learn, grow, risk and have fun while engaging with this art form in meaningful ways that elevate their understanding of the craft, themselves and others as people and artists, and the world around them.

Auditions: Friday, February 11, 2022 (**No walk-ins will be seen. Anyone wishing to audition must register online.**)

Callbacks: Saturday and Sunday, February 12-13, 2022 (by invitation only)

First Rehearsal: Tuesday, February 15, 2022

Tech Week:
Load In: April 30, 2022; Times TBD

Tech/Dress Rehearsals: May 1-5, 2022, from 3:45-10:15pm each day

Tuition and Fee Information
Tuition: $550

*$200 deposit is due at registration. Full balance is due when the cast list is released, unless a payment plan has been requested for an additional $35. Deposit is refundable if not cast.

Co-op Fee: $125 per cast member (maximum 2 per family) 

Ticket Commitment: 16 tickets per family ($400) 

Additional Important Dates:

We will place all fees on your family account the day after the cast list is released. Fees are due on specific dates but may be paid at any time prior to the due date. Late fees of $15 per week will be added to any fees not paid on time. Tuition fees are due after the cast list is released, unless a payment plan has been requested.

Audition Requirements
  • Please prepare 30 to 60 seconds of an uptempo musical theatre song written after 1967 in the key in which you wish to sing. Do not prepare a ballad as your primary audition song.
  • Bring sheet music for your audition song that has the vocal and piano lines. An accompanist will be provided. 
  • Choose an uptempo musical theatre song that will best represent your storytelling and vocal ability, as well as your ability to express something heartfelt through song. 
  • Do not sing from the following musicals: Into the Woods, Descendants, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables, The Little Mermaid, Matilda, any animated movie musical that does not have a stage adaptation, and The Greatest Showman. 
  • Additionally, singing from heavily stylized pop or rock musicals (such as Rent, Spring Awakening, Next to Normal, Be More Chill, etc) is discouraged. 
  • Selected candidates will be asked to attend callbacks. For callbacks, you will be given selections of music and sides to prepare.

Audition Workshop
All are welcome to attend the audition workshop. The workshop will consist of the following components: 
  • How to slate and what to do in an audition room. 
  • What to wear to your audition. 
  • How to prepare your sheet music. 
  • A demonstration of how to interpret the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim. 
  • Time to run your audition piece with the musical director and director and obtain feedback. (Bring your sheet music!)

This slideshow details the concept and vision for this unique and bold interpretation of Into the Woods. It bears almost no resemblance to the original Broadway production or traditionally staged productions.
