About The Show
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Seussical the Musical is a joyful, confidence-building adventure for children to young teens who love imagination and teamwork. Bursting with colorful characters and playful storytelling, the show encourages performers to be bold, kind, and unapologetically themselves. It’s a wonderful way to grow vocal and acting skills while making new friends, building stage confidence, and discovering that even the smallest voice can make a big difference

About This Production
Seussical Jr is specifically designed to provide age appropriate opportunities for our younger performers. These junior shows have much shorter run times (usually between 45 to 90 minutes) and shorter rehearsal periods for a more palatable and enjoyable experience for children. Great care is taken in crafting an educational theatre experience that integrates basic performance training with the development of essential social and interpersonal skills. At this formative age, it is important that children learn how to work together, problem solve, develop an awareness of others, continue to refine their motor and speaking skills, and of course, play!
Our Creative Team members bring with them substantial experiences in educational theatre and a genuine love for working with young performers. These Teacher-Artists understand how to reach young children and use a very involved approach to nurture and guide them towards achieving their personal best. Our goal is to create an environment where each child feels safe to learn, grow, risk, and have fun while building friendships and learning about themselves, others, and theatre.
