Having a Shakespearean monologue, polished and ready to perform, is essential for any actor auditioning for college or local community theater productions. In my class, you will bring a memorized soliloquy, which we will analyze together, utilizing classical scansion techniques, finishing with a step by step process to enhance your performance. Class consists of 4 group zoom conference calls, with a duration of 60 minutes each, meeting once a week, finishing with a self filmed tape for your portfolio. Increase your dancing, singing, and acting skills in a flexible and fun atmosphere!! Have 6 new choreographed and taped numbers at the end of the 6 weeks. Students will receive a weekly course package including: • Class Video - including introduction, warmup, and instruction • Piano Accompaniment Recording • Lyric Sheet or Sheet Music In her own unique and quirky style, Jorie Janeway will lead students in stretching their triple threat muscles. The class video each week will feature a 32 bar (or thereabouts) cut from a musical that is fully choreographed and taught as if in class. Students will take the class, practice learning the choreography and vocals, and put themselves on camera, which has become a very important skillset as of late. They will then send back a recording of their own performance. There will be an audio recording provided individually to students with feedback each week. A final class video including all participants will be created and distributed at the end of the 6 weeks. Students will walk away with their own footage of 6 new 32 bar cuts, their own audio recordings and sheet music of each 32 bar cut, and an array of musical theatre knowledge. All choreography is created by Jorie Janeway, unless specifically stated otherwise. There will be new material for every new session.
