HOLES - Play Production Class
Based on the book by Louis Sachar
Play Performance Workshop
Based on the Newberry Award-winning book by Louis Sachar, Holes is the story of Stanley Yelnates, a boy who has been unjustly sentenced to a work camp in the desert where the boys spend all day digging holes for the cruel warden. Realizing that there is something buried that the warden is determined to find, Stanley tries to dig up the truth in this inventive and darkly humorous tale of crime and punishment—and redemption. . During this play performance workshop, students will collaborate to prepare selected scenes from the book and the class will culminate in a showcase performance for family and friends.
What is involved?
This performance workshop is helping students learn the process of adapting a book into a play. During their time in this course, they will make themselves familiar with the source material and take the plot and characters, and with the guidance of the instructor, create their own performance! There is a syllabus for this performance workshop that can be found here.
